Queen Latifah
Dana Elaine Owens, better called Queen Latifah in America, is an actress and rapper. The role of Queen Latifah on television, film and music has won her several prizes. These include the Golden Globe Award two Screen Actors Guild Awards Two Image Awards A Grammy Award In addition, she has six Grammy Nominations Emmy Award Nomination and an Academy Award. Queen Latifah was born in and lived in Newark New Jersey the daughter of Rita a schoolteacher who worked in Irvington High School and Lancelot Owens Sr. a police officer. Her father and mother split after Latifah turned ten. Latifah was raised in the Baptist church, and attended Catholic schools at Newark New Jersey. The stage name Latifah is a reference to delicate and kind in Arabic was given to her her cousin at the age of she was eight. Latifah was always tall and tall. Standing 5'10" She was a strong forward for her high school basketball team. In a school production, she performed Home from The Wiz. Latifah began beatboxing with the rap group Ladies Fresh.
