Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a artist who was born in Newark, New Jersey on the 9th of August 1963. The parents of her are gospel singers Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard) as well as John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick is also a singer. In Newark Whitney started singing in the church choir as a small child. At the age 15 she joined her mother in the background vocals for Chaka's hit Im Every Woman from 1978.
